We are able to conduct thorough diagnostic checks, get to the root cause of your brake issues, and ensure they are fixed fast.
This is relatively common around Toowoomba particularly with people who travel the range often and use the brakes rather than gears and engine to control their speed. The brake rotors (discs) overheat and either distort or develop “hot spots”. Every time the brake pad passes over one of these hot spots or distortions it causes the steering wheel to pull to one side then return to its normal position. The resulting “shudder” can be very annoying and can eventually become quite violent. Fortunately, it is a relatively easy and inexpensive to fix. GOODYEAR AUTOCARE Toowoomba or Dalby can remove your rotors and have them machined on a lathe and then re-fitted. The machining will remove the hot spots and distortions and get rid of the shudder. Remember that all brake rotors have a minimum thickness so if your rotors are approaching this minimum, they may not be able to be machined and will have to be replaced. Driving the range is not the only way to create rotor distortions and these distortions are the most common, but not the only, cause of brake shudder. If in doubt call in and talk to our friendly technicians for advice.
